Prologue. First Light
Immerse yourself in a spectacle of music and light that fills the vaults of a neo-Gothic church in Palanga.

About the light installation
You stand beneath the vaults as moving images unfold above your head. Colour flows down the walls and columns, and music sounds from every side. Suddenly you realise you are not beside the sound and the image but inside them, and you feel with your whole body how the mood of the space changes. Light Waves is an experience of music and projection that carries you into a world of sound and image for almost half an hour. Nothing on this scale has been seen in the Baltic states before.

Light Waves is a 25-minute experience of music and projection, created especially for the neo-Gothic church in Palanga. Images from 24 synchronised projectors fill the whole space at once, from the vaults to the columns, fitting every architectural form with a precision that could not be repeated anywhere else. Sound arrives from different directions, so the music is heard not in front of you but all around you.
There is no separate stage and no single screen: the whole space becomes part of the experience, and image and music change as if everything around you were breathing in one rhythm. This experience is hard to put into words, so it is worth feeling for yourself. Its vision is created by director Dalius Abaris, and its original music by composer Kipras Mašanauskas. There has never been a sound and image experience like it in the Baltic states.

About the experience
Light architecture sound
At the very heart of the experience, you want to look around. Your eye is drawn to three-dimensional forms moving high above your head and to graphic images opening up on the columns. They expand and contract, so your sense of the depth and height of the space shifts with the music. The space looks different from moment to moment and lets you notice its forms anew, while everything you left outside fades for a while.

You don’t need to know anything about art or technology to see Light Waves: curiosity is enough, so everyone can discover the experience in their own way. It is easy to share, as a couple, with friends or with family. It is an impression you will want to tell others about, and for holidaymakers on the coast it can become the highlight of their stay.
